Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, or VITA, is a free tax preparation service, sponsored by the IRS, but performed by certified volunteers. You can come and get your taxes done by friendly, highly skilled tax preparers in a well-equipped and comfortable environment. Our volunteers' computers use up-to-the-minute software and we can electronically file your return when it is finished, which is faster, more accurate and more secure than sending a paper return through the mail. In Longmont, you have a choice of two locations operating from the beginning of February and tax day on April 15th.
For the 2018 tax year (filed in 2019) this service is available for basic returns with income up to $54,000. The income limitation is per return, so couples filing joint returns must have a combined income of $54,000 or less.
In Colorado, the filing deadline for this year is Tuesday, April 15, 2019. However, Longmont VITA's last day will be Saturday, April 13, 2019. Please check your local VITA site days and hours of operation.
